Chapter 17

1 Now the Philistines6430 gathered together622 853 their armies4264 to battle,4421 and were gathered together622 at Shochoh,7755 which834 belongeth to Judah,3063 and pitched2583 between996 Shochoh7755 and Azekah,5825 in Ephes-dammim.658

2 And Saul7586 and the men376 of Israel3478 were gathered together,622 and pitched2583 by the valley6010 of Elah,425 and set the battle4421 in array6186 against7125 the Philistines.6430

3 And the Philistines6430 stood5975 on413 a mountain2022 on the one side,4480 2088 and Israel3478 stood5975 on413 a mountain2022 on the other side:4480 2088 and there was a valley1516 between996 them.

4 And there went out3318 a champion376 1143 out of the camp4480 4264 of the Philistines,6430 named8034 Goliath,1555 of Gath,4480 1661 whose height1363 was six8337 cubits520 and a span.2239

5 And he had a helmet3553 of brass5178 upon5921 his head,7218 and he1931 was armed3847 with a coat8302 of mail;7193 and the weight4948 of the coat8302 was five2568 thousand505 shekels8255 of brass.5178

6 And he had greaves4697 of brass5178 upon5921 his legs,7272 and a target3591 of brass5178 between996 his shoulders.3802

7 And the staff2671 of his spear2595 was like a weaver's707 beam;4500 and his spear's2595 head3852 weighed six8337 hundred3967 shekels8255 of iron:1270 and one bearing5375 a shield6793 went1980 before6440 him.

8 And he stood5975 and cried7121 unto413 the armies4634 of Israel,3478 and said559 unto them, Why4100 are ye come out3318 to set your battle4421 in array?6186 am not3808 I595 a Philistine,6430 and ye859 servants5650 to Saul?7586 choose1262 you a man376 for you, and let him come down3381 to413 me.

9 If518 he be able3201 to fight3898 with854 me, and to kill5221 me, then will we be1961 your servants:5650 but if518 I589 prevail3201 against him, and kill5221 him, then shall ye be1961 our servants,5650 and serve5647 us.

10 And the Philistine6430 said,559 I589 defy2778 853 the armies4634 of Israel3478 this2088 day;3117 give5414 me a man,376 that we may fight3898 together.3162

11 When Saul7586 and all3605 Israel3478 heard8085 853 those428 words1697 of the Philistine,6430 they were dismayed,2865 and greatly3966 afraid.3372

12 Now David1732 was the son1121 of that2088 Ephrathite376 673 of Bethlehem-judah,4480 1035 whose name8034 was Jesse;3448 and he had eight8083 sons:1121 and the man376 went935 among men376 for an old2204 man in the days3117 of Saul.7586

13 And the three7969 eldest1419 sons1121 of Jesse3448 went1980 and followed1980 310 Saul7586 to the battle:4421 and the names8034 of his three7969 sons1121 that834 went1980 to the battle4421 were Eliab446 the firstborn,1060 and next4932 unto him Abinadab,41 and the third7992 Shammah.8048

14 And David1732 was the youngest:6996 and the three7969 eldest1419 followed1980 310 Saul.7586

15 But David1732 went1980 and returned7725 from4480 5921 Saul7586 to feed7462 853 his father's1 sheep6629 at Bethlehem.1035

16 And the Philistine6430 drew near5066 morning7925 and evening,6150 and presented himself3320 forty705 days.3117

17 And Jesse3448 said559 unto David1732 his son,1121 Take3947 now4994 for thy brethren251 an ephah374 of this2088 parched7039 corn, and these2088 ten6235 loaves,3899 and run7323 to the camp4264 to thy brethren;251

18 And carry935 these428 ten6235 cheeses2757 2461 unto the captain8269 of their thousand,505 and look how6485 thy brethren251 fare,7965 and take3947 their pledge.6161

19 Now Saul,7586 and they,1992 and all3605 the men376 of Israel,3478 were in the valley6010 of Elah,425 fighting3898 with5973 the Philistines.6430

20 And David1732 rose up early7925 in the morning,1242 and left5203 853 the sheep6629 with5921 a keeper,8104 and took,5375 and went,1980 as834 Jesse3448 had commanded6680 him; and he came935 to the trench,4570 as the host2428 was going forth3318 to413 the fight,4634 and shouted7321 for the battle.4421

21 For Israel3478 and the Philistines6430 had put the battle in array,6186 army4634 against7125 army.4634

22 And David1732 left5203 853 his carriage3627 in5921 the hand3027 of the keeper8104 of the carriage,3627 and ran7323 into the army,4634 and came935 and saluted7592 7965 his brethren.251

23 And as he1931 talked1696 with5973 them, behold,2009 there came up5927 the champion,376 1143 the Philistine6430 of Gath,4480 1661 Goliath1555 by name,8034 out of the armies4480 4630 of the Philistines,6430 and spoke1696 according to the same428 words:1697 and David1732 heard8085 them.

24 And all3605 the men376 of Israel,3478 when they saw7200 853 the man,376 fled5127 from4480 6440 him, and were sore3966 afraid.3372

25 And the men376 of Israel3478 said,559 Have ye seen7200 this2088 man376 that is come up?5927 surely3588 to defy2778 853 Israel3478 is he come up:5927 and it shall be,1961 that the man376 who834 killeth5221 him, the king4428 will enrich6238 him with great1419 riches,6239 and will give5414 him his daughter,1323 and make6213 his father's1 house1004 free2670 in Israel.3478

26 And David1732 spoke559 to413 the men376 that stood5975 by5973 him, saying,559 What4100 shall be done6213 to the man376 that834 killeth5221 853 this1975 Philistine,6430 and taketh away5493 the reproach2781 from4480 5921 Israel?3478 for3588 who4310 is this2088 uncircumcised6189 Philistine,6430 that3588 he should defy2778 the armies4634 of the living2416 God?430

27 And the people5971 answered559 him after this2088 manner,1697 saying,559 So3541 shall it be done6213 to the man376 that834 killeth5221 him.

28 And Eliab446 his eldest1419 brother251 heard8085 when he spoke1696 unto413 the men;376 and Eliab's446 anger639 was kindled2734 against David,1732 and he said,559 Why4100 camest thou down3381 hither? and with5921 whom4310 hast thou left5203 those2007 few4592 sheep6629 in the wilderness?4057 I589 know3045 853 thy pride,2087 and the naughtiness7455 of thine heart;3824 for3588 thou art come down3381 that4616 thou mightest see7200 the battle.4421

29 And David1732 said,559 What4100 have I now6258 done?6213 Is there not3808 a cause?1697

30 And he turned5437 from4480 681 him toward another,413 4136 312 and spoke559 after the same2088 manner:1697 and the people5971 answered1697 him again7725 after the former7223 manner.1697

31 And when the words1697 were heard8085 which834 David1732 spoke,1696 they rehearsed5046 them before6440 Saul:7586 and he sent3947 for him.

32 And David1732 said559 to413 Saul,7586 Let no408 man's120 heart3820 fail5307 because5921 of him; thy servant5650 will go1980 and fight3898 with5973 this2088 Philistine.6430

33 And Saul7586 said559 to413 David,1732 Thou art not3808 able3201 to go1980 against413 this2088 Philistine6430 to fight3898 with5973 him: for3588 thou859 art but a youth,5288 and he1931 a man376 of war4421 from his youth.4480 5271

34 And David1732 said559 unto413 Saul,7586 Thy servant5650 kept1961 7462 his father's1 sheep,6629 and there came935 a lion,738 and a bear,1677 and took5375 a lamb7716 out of the flock:4480 5739

35 And I went out3318 after310 him, and smote5221 him, and delivered5337 it out of his mouth:4480 6310 and when he arose6965 against5921 me, I caught2388 him by his beard,2206 and smote5221 him, and slew4191 him.

36 Thy servant5650 slew5221 both1571 853 the lion738 and1571 the bear:1677 and this2088 uncircumcised6189 Philistine6430 shall be1961 as one259 of4480 them, seeing3588 he hath defied2778 the armies4634 of the living2416 God.430

37 David1732 said559 moreover, The LORD3068 that834 delivered5337 me out of the paw4480 3027 of the lion,738 and out of the paw4480 3027 of the bear,1677 he1931 will deliver5337 me out of the hand4480 3027 of this2088 Philistine.6430 And Saul7586 said559 unto413 David,1732 Go,1980 and the LORD3068 be1961 with5973 thee.

38 And Saul7586 armed3847 853 David1732 with his armor,4055 and he put5414 a helmet6959 of brass5178 upon5921 his head;7218 also he armed3847 him with a coat of mail.8302

39 And David1732 girded2296 853 his sword2719 upon4480 5921 his armor,4055 and he attempted2974 to go;1980 for3588 he had not3808 proved5254 it. And David1732 said559 unto413 Saul,7586 I cannot3201 3808 go1980 with these;428 for3588 I have not3808 proved5254 them. And David1732 put5493 them off4480 5921 him.

40 And he took3947 his staff4731 in his hand,3027 and chose977 him five2568 smooth2512 stones68 out of4480 the brook,5158 and put7760 them in a shepherd's7462 bag3627 which834 he had, even in a scrip;3219 and his sling7050 was in his hand:3027 and he drew near5066 to413 the Philistine.6430

41 And the Philistine6430 came1980 on1980 and drew near7131 unto413 David;1732 and the man376 that bore5375 the shield6793 went before6440 him.

42 And when the Philistine6430 looked about,5027 and saw7200 853 David,1732 he disdained959 him: for3588 he was1961 but a youth,5288 and ruddy,132 and of5973 a fair3303 countenance.4758

43 And the Philistine6430 said559 unto413 David,1732 Am I595 a dog,3611 that3588 thou859 comest935 to413 me with staves?4731 And the Philistine6430 cursed7043 853 David1732 by his gods.430

44 And the Philistine6430 said559 to413 David,1732 Come1980 to413 me, and I will give5414 853 thy flesh1320 unto the fowls5775 of the air,8064 and to the beasts929 of the field.7704

45 Then said559 David1732 to413 the Philistine,6430 Thou859 comest935 to413 me with a sword,2719 and with a spear,2595 and with a shield:3591 but I595 come935 to413 thee in the name8034 of the LORD3068 of hosts,6635 the God430 of the armies4634 of Israel,3478 whom834 thou hast defied.2778

46 This2088 day3117 will the LORD3068 deliver5462 thee into mine hand;3027 and I will smite5221 thee, and take5493 853 thine head7218 from4480 5921 thee; and I will give5414 the carcasses6297 of the host4264 of the Philistines6430 this2088 day3117 unto the fowls5775 of the air,8064 and to the wild beasts2416 of the earth;776 that all3605 the earth776 may know3045 that3588 there is3426 a God430 in Israel.3478

47 And all3605 this2088 assembly6951 shall know3045 that3588 the LORD3068 saveth3467 not3808 with sword2719 and spear:2595 for3588 the battle4421 is the LORD's,3068 and he will give5414 you into our hands.3027

48 And it came to pass,1961 when3588 the Philistine6430 arose,6965 and came1980 and drew nigh7126 to meet7125 David,1732 that David1732 hasted,4116 and ran7323 toward the army4634 to meet7125 the Philistine.6430

49 And David1732 put7971 853 his hand3027 in413 his bag,3627 and took3947 thence4480 8033 a stone,68 and slung7049 it, and smote5221 853 the Philistine6430 in413 his forehead,4696 that the stone68 sunk2883 into his forehead;4696 and he fell5307 upon5921 his face6440 to the earth.776

50 So David1732 prevailed2388 over4480 the Philistine6430 with a sling7050 and with a stone,68 and smote5221 853 the Philistine,6430 and slew4191 him; but there was no369 sword2719 in the hand3027 of David.1732

51 Therefore David1732 ran,7323 and stood5975 upon413 the Philistine,6430 and took3947 853 his sword,2719 and drew8025 it out of the sheath4480 8593 thereof, and slew4191 him, and cut off3772 853 his head7218 therewith. And when the Philistines6430 saw7200 their champion1368 was dead,4191 they fled.5127

52 And the men376 of Israel3478 and of Judah3063 arose,6965 and shouted,7321 and pursued7291 853 the Philistines,6430 until5704 thou come935 to the valley,1516 and to5704 the gates8179 of Ekron.6138 And the wounded2491 of the Philistines6430 fell down5307 by the way1870 to Shaaraim,8189 even unto5704 Gath,1661 and unto5704 Ekron.6138

53 And the children1121 of Israel3478 returned7725 from chasing4480 1814 after310 the Philistines,6430 and they spoiled8155 853 their tents.4264

54 And David1732 took3947 853 the head7218 of the Philistine,6430 and brought935 it to Jerusalem;3389 but he put7760 his armor3627 in his tent.168

55 And when Saul7586 saw7200 853 David1732 go forth3318 against7125 the Philistine,6430 he said559 unto413 Abner,74 the captain8269 of the host,6635 Abner,74 whose4310 son1121 is this2088 youth?5288 And Abner74 said,559 As thy soul5315 liveth,2416 O king,4428 I cannot518 tell.3045

56 And the king4428 said,559 Inquire7592 thou859 whose4310 son1121 the stripling5958 is.

57 And as David1732 returned7725 from the slaughter4480 5221 of853 the Philistine,6430 Abner74 took3947 him, and brought935 him before6440 Saul7586 with the head7218 of the Philistine6430 in his hand.3027

58 And Saul7586 said559 to413 him, Whose4310 son1121 art thou,859 thou young man?5288 And David1732 answered,559 I am the son1121 of thy servant5650 Jesse3448 the Bethlehemite.1022

7 Древко его копья было как вал ткацкого станка, а железный наконечник весил шестьсот шекелей. Перед ним выступал щитоносец.

8 Голиаф встал перед израильским строем и бросил вызов: «Зачем вы выстроились на битву? Я филистимлянин, а вы рабы Саула. Выберите одного из своих воинов, и пусть он выйдет ко мне.

9 Если он в бою одолеет меня и убьет — мы станем вашими рабами, а если я одолею его и убью — вы станете нашими рабами, будете служить нам».

10 Филистимлянин говорил: «Посрамлю я сегодня войско израильское, только дайте мне кого-нибудь для поединка!»

11 Услышав эти слова, Саул и израильтяне испугались, пришли в смятение.

12 Давид был сыном эфратянина из Вифлеема в Иудее, по имени Иессей; у Иессея было восемь сыновей. Во дни Саула Иессей уже состарился, было ему много лет.

13 Трое старших сыновей Иессея отправились с Саулом на войну. Первенца звали Элиав, второго — Авинадав и третьего — Шамма.

14 Давид был самым младшим. Трое старших ушли с Саулом на войну,

19 Они вместе с израильтянами и с Саулом стоят теперь в долине Эла, чтобы сразиться с филистимлянами».

20 На следующий день Давид встал рано утром, поручил овец сторожу, взял поклажу и отправился в путь, как велел ему Иессей. Он подошел к стану в тот миг, когда войско выходило из него с боевым кличем.

21 Израильтяне и филистимляне выстроились для боя друг против друга.

22 Давид оставил свою поклажу с обозным сторожем и поспешил к войску. Он нашел братьев, приветствовал их,

23 и, пока они разговаривали, выступил из рядов филистимлян тот самый ратоборец по имени Голиаф из Гата и стал выкрикивать те же самые слова, и Давид услышал его.

24 Кто бы из израильтян ни встречался с ним взглядом, все отступали в великом страхе.

25 Израильтяне говорили: «Видите, кто это вышел вперед? Он хочет насмехаться над Израилем. Того, кто его убьет, царь щедро наградит, выдаст за него свою дочь и освободит весь его род от податей в Израиле».

26 Давид спросил тех, кто стоял рядом: «Что будет тому, кто убьет этого филистимлянина и снимет позор с Израиля? Да кто такой этот филистимлянин необрезанный, чтобы насмехаться над воинством Бога Живого!»

27 И люди подтвердили сказанное прежде: «Вот что будет тому, кто убьет его».

28 Старший его брат Элиав услышал, как Давид разговаривает с людьми, и разгневался на него. Он сказал: «Зачем ты явился сюда и на кого бросил нашу маленькую отару в степи? Знаю я твою самонадеянность и злые мысли: ты явился посмотреть на битву».

29 Но Давид ответил: «Что я такого сделал? Разве мне даже поговорить нельзя?»

30 Отвернувшись от брата, он заговорил с другим человеком, спросил его о том же самом и получил прежний ответ.

31 Слова, сказанные Давидом, не остались незамеченными, их пересказали Саулу, и тот приказал привести его.

32 Давид сказал Саулу: «Пусть никто не падает духом из-за этого филистимлянина. Твой слуга пойдет и сразится с ним!»

33 Саул ответил Давиду: «Ты не можешь пойти и сразиться с этим филистимлянином, ведь ты еще мальчик, а он воин смолоду».

34 Давид ответил Саулу: «Твой слуга был пастухом при отаре своего отца. И бывало, что приходил лев или медведь и уносил овцу из отары.

35 Тогда я гнался за ним, разил его и спасал овцу у него из пасти, а если он нападал на меня, то я хватал его за гриву и разил насмерть.

36 И со львом, и с медведем справлялся твой слуга, и с этим филистимлянином необрезанным будет то же, что с ними, ведь он насмехается над воинством Бога Живого».

37 И добавил Давид: «ГОСПОДЬ, избавлявший меня от львиных когтей и от медведя, избавит меня и от рук этого филистимлянина». Тогда Саул сказал Давиду: «Иди, и да пребудет с тобой ГОСПОДЬ!»

38 Саул одел Давида в свои одежды, возложил ему на голову медный шлем и надел на него доспехи.

39 Поверх доспехов Давид опоясался мечом Саула, но с непривычки не мог и шагу ступить. Давид сказал Саулу: «Я не могу во всём этом ходить, не привык!» — и снял с себя вооружение.

40 Он взял посох, выбрал пять гладких камней из пересохшего речного русла и положил в свою пастушью сумку. С этой сумкой и с пращой он вышел против филистимлянина.

41 Филистимлянин вместе со своим щитоносцем двинулся на Давида.

42 Присмотревшись к Давиду, филистимлянин увидел, что тот молод, румян и красив, и отнесся к нему с презрением.

43 Спросил филистимлянин Давида: «Разве я собака, что ты вышел против меня с палками?» — и проклял Давида именем своих богов.

44 Потом филистимлянин сказал Давиду: «Подойди сюда — и я брошу твое тело птицам небесным и диким зверям!»

45 Давид ответил филистимлянину: «Ты идешь на меня с мечом, копьем и дротиком, а я выхожу против тебя с именем ГОСПОДА Воинств, Бога ополчений израильских, над которыми ты насмехался.

46 Сегодня ГОСПОДЬ предаст тебя в мои руки: я убью тебя, отсеку тебе голову — и сегодня же отдам трупы войска филистимского птицам небесным и зверям земным, и вся земля будет знать, что есть Бог у Израиля!

47 И узнают все, кто собрался здесь, что не мечом и копьем спасает ГОСПОДЬ, ибо битва эта — ГОСПОДНЯ, и Он предал всех вас в наши руки».

48 И когда филистимлянин поднялся и двинулся на Давида, Давид ринулся прямо на вражеский строй, навстречу филистимлянину.

49 Он запустил руку в сумку, достал оттуда камень, метнул им из пращи и попал филистимлянину в лоб, так что камень проломил ему череп, и тот упал ничком.

50 Так Давид одолел филистимлянина пращой и камнем, сразил его и убил, и не было в руках у Давида меча.

51 Давид подбежал к филистимлянину, наступил на него и, вытащив из ножен его собственный меч, добил его — отсек ему голову. Филистимляне, увидев, что их могучий воин пал, обратились в бегство.

52 Воины израильские и иудейские бросились с боевым кличем преследовать филистимлян и гнались за ними до входа в Гат и до ворот Экрона. И тела сраженных филистимлян усеяли шараимскую дорогу до самого Гата и Экрона.

53 Возвратившись из погони, израильтяне разграбили филистимский стан.

54 А Давид взял голову филистимлянина Голиафа и принес ее в Иерусалим, оставив его оружие у себя в шатре.

55 Когда Саул увидел, как Давид идет навстречу филистимлянину, он спросил своего полководца Авнера: «Чей сын этот юноша, Авнер?» Но Авнер ответил: «Да живет душа твоя, царь, — не знаю».

56 Тогда царь велел ему разузнать, чей сын этот юноша.

57 И когда Давид, сразив филистимлянина, возвращался назад, Авнер взял его и подвел к Саулу. Предстал пред ним Давид с головой филистимлянина в руке.

58 Саул спросил его: «Чей ты сын, юноша?» И Давид ответил: «Сын слуги твоего Иессея из Вифлеема».

25 And the men376 of Israel3478 said,559 Have ye seen7200 this2088 man376 that is come up?5927 surely3588 to defy2778 853 Israel3478 is he come up:5927 and it shall be,1961 that the man376 who834 killeth5221 him, the king4428 will enrich6238 him with great1419 riches,6239 and will give5414 him his daughter,1323 and make6213 his father's1 house1004 free2670 in Israel.3478

25 Израильтяне говорили: «Видите, кто это вышел вперед? Он хочет насмехаться над Израилем. Того, кто его убьет, царь щедро наградит, выдаст за него свою дочь и освободит весь его род от податей в Израиле».

26 And David1732 spoke559 to413 the men376 that stood5975 by5973 him, saying,559 What4100 shall be done6213 to the man376 that834 killeth5221 853 this1975 Philistine,6430 and taketh away5493 the reproach2781 from4480 5921 Israel?3478 for3588 who4310 is this2088 uncircumcised6189 Philistine,6430 that3588 he should defy2778 the armies4634 of the living2416 God?430

26 Давид спросил тех, кто стоял рядом: «Что будет тому, кто убьет этого филистимлянина и снимет позор с Израиля? Да кто такой этот филистимлянин необрезанный, чтобы насмехаться над воинством Бога Живого!»

27 И люди подтвердили сказанное прежде: «Вот что будет тому, кто убьет его».

28 And Eliab446 his eldest1419 brother251 heard8085 when he spoke1696 unto413 the men;376 and Eliab's446 anger639 was kindled2734 against David,1732 and he said,559 Why4100 camest thou down3381 hither? and with5921 whom4310 hast thou left5203 those2007 few4592 sheep6629 in the wilderness?4057 I589 know3045 853 thy pride,2087 and the naughtiness7455 of thine heart;3824 for3588 thou art come down3381 that4616 thou mightest see7200 the battle.4421

30 Отвернувшись от брата, он заговорил с другим человеком, спросил его о том же самом и получил прежний ответ.

31 And when the words1697 were heard8085 which834 David1732 spoke,1696 they rehearsed5046 them before6440 Saul:7586 and he sent3947 for him.

33 Саул ответил Давиду: «Ты не можешь пойти и сразиться с этим филистимлянином, ведь ты еще мальчик, а он воин смолоду».

34 And David1732 said559 unto413 Saul,7586 Thy servant5650 kept1961 7462 his father's1 sheep,6629 and there came935 a lion,738 and a bear,1677 and took5375 a lamb7716 out of the flock:4480 5739

34 Давид ответил Саулу: «Твой слуга был пастухом при отаре своего отца. И бывало, что приходил лев или медведь и уносил овцу из отары.

35 And I went out3318 after310 him, and smote5221 him, and delivered5337 it out of his mouth:4480 6310 and when he arose6965 against5921 me, I caught2388 him by his beard,2206 and smote5221 him, and slew4191 him.

35 Тогда я гнался за ним, разил его и спасал овцу у него из пасти, а если он нападал на меня, то я хватал его за гриву и разил насмерть.

36 Thy servant5650 slew5221 both1571 853 the lion738 and1571 the bear:1677 and this2088 uncircumcised6189 Philistine6430 shall be1961 as one259 of4480 them, seeing3588 he hath defied2778 the armies4634 of the living2416 God.430

36 И со львом, и с медведем справлялся твой слуга, и с этим филистимлянином необрезанным будет то же, что с ними, ведь он насмехается над воинством Бога Живого».

37 David1732 said559 moreover, The LORD3068 that834 delivered5337 me out of the paw4480 3027 of the lion,738 and out of the paw4480 3027 of the bear,1677 he1931 will deliver5337 me out of the hand4480 3027 of this2088 Philistine.6430 And Saul7586 said559 unto413 David,1732 Go,1980 and the LORD3068 be1961 with5973 thee.

37 И добавил Давид: «ГОСПОДЬ, избавлявший меня от львиных когтей и от медведя, избавит меня и от рук этого филистимлянина». Тогда Саул сказал Давиду: «Иди, и да пребудет с тобой ГОСПОДЬ!»

38 And Saul7586 armed3847 853 David1732 with his armor,4055 and he put5414 a helmet6959 of brass5178 upon5921 his head;7218 also he armed3847 him with a coat of mail.8302

38 Саул одел Давида в свои одежды, возложил ему на голову медный шлем и надел на него доспехи.

39 And David1732 girded2296 853 his sword2719 upon4480 5921 his armor,4055 and he attempted2974 to go;1980 for3588 he had not3808 proved5254 it. And David1732 said559 unto413 Saul,7586 I cannot3201 3808 go1980 with these;428 for3588 I have not3808 proved5254 them. And David1732 put5493 them off4480 5921 him.

39 Поверх доспехов Давид опоясался мечом Саула, но с непривычки не мог и шагу ступить. Давид сказал Саулу: «Я не могу во всём этом ходить, не привык!» — и снял с себя вооружение.

40 And he took3947 his staff4731 in his hand,3027 and chose977 him five2568 smooth2512 stones68 out of4480 the brook,5158 and put7760 them in a shepherd's7462 bag3627 which834 he had, even in a scrip;3219 and his sling7050 was in his hand:3027 and he drew near5066 to413 the Philistine.6430

40 Он взял посох, выбрал пять гладких камней из пересохшего речного русла и положил в свою пастушью сумку. С этой сумкой и с пращой он вышел против филистимлянина.

41 And the Philistine6430 came1980 on1980 and drew near7131 unto413 David;1732 and the man376 that bore5375 the shield6793 went before6440 him.

41 Филистимлянин вместе со своим щитоносцем двинулся на Давида.

42 And when the Philistine6430 looked about,5027 and saw7200 853 David,1732 he disdained959 him: for3588 he was1961 but a youth,5288 and ruddy,132 and of5973 a fair3303 countenance.4758

42 Присмотревшись к Давиду, филистимлянин увидел, что тот молод, румян и красив, и отнесся к нему с презрением.

43 And the Philistine6430 said559 unto413 David,1732 Am I595 a dog,3611 that3588 thou859 comest935 to413 me with staves?4731 And the Philistine6430 cursed7043 853 David1732 by his gods.430

43 Спросил филистимлянин Давида: «Разве я собака, что ты вышел против меня с палками?» — и проклял Давида именем своих богов.

44 And the Philistine6430 said559 to413 David,1732 Come1980 to413 me, and I will give5414 853 thy flesh1320 unto the fowls5775 of the air,8064 and to the beasts929 of the field.7704

44 Потом филистимлянин сказал Давиду: «Подойди сюда — и я брошу твое тело птицам небесным и диким зверям!»

45 Then said559 David1732 to413 the Philistine,6430 Thou859 comest935 to413 me with a sword,2719 and with a spear,2595 and with a shield:3591 but I595 come935 to413 thee in the name8034 of the LORD3068 of hosts,6635 the God430 of the armies4634 of Israel,3478 whom834 thou hast defied.2778

45 Давид ответил филистимлянину: «Ты идешь на меня с мечом, копьем и дротиком, а я выхожу против тебя с именем ГОСПОДА Воинств, Бога ополчений израильских, над которыми ты насмехался.

46 This2088 day3117 will the LORD3068 deliver5462 thee into mine hand;3027 and I will smite5221 thee, and take5493 853 thine head7218 from4480 5921 thee; and I will give5414 the carcasses6297 of the host4264 of the Philistines6430 this2088 day3117 unto the fowls5775 of the air,8064 and to the wild beasts2416 of the earth;776 that all3605 the earth776 may know3045 that3588 there is3426 a God430 in Israel.3478

46 Сегодня ГОСПОДЬ предаст тебя в мои руки: я убью тебя, отсеку тебе голову — и сегодня же отдам трупы войска филистимского птицам небесным и зверям земным, и вся земля будет знать, что есть Бог у Израиля!

47 And all3605 this2088 assembly6951 shall know3045 that3588 the LORD3068 saveth3467 not3808 with sword2719 and spear:2595 for3588 the battle4421 is the LORD's,3068 and he will give5414 you into our hands.3027

47 И узнают все, кто собрался здесь, что не мечом и копьем спасает ГОСПОДЬ, ибо битва эта — ГОСПОДНЯ, и Он предал всех вас в наши руки».

48 And it came to pass,1961 when3588 the Philistine6430 arose,6965 and came1980 and drew nigh7126 to meet7125 David,1732 that David1732 hasted,4116 and ran7323 toward the army4634 to meet7125 the Philistine.6430

48 И когда филистимлянин поднялся и двинулся на Давида, Давид ринулся прямо на вражеский строй, навстречу филистимлянину.

49 And David1732 put7971 853 his hand3027 in413 his bag,3627 and took3947 thence4480 8033 a stone,68 and slung7049 it, and smote5221 853 the Philistine6430 in413 his forehead,4696 that the stone68 sunk2883 into his forehead;4696 and he fell5307 upon5921 his face6440 to the earth.776

49 Он запустил руку в сумку, достал оттуда камень, метнул им из пращи и попал филистимлянину в лоб, так что камень проломил ему череп, и тот упал ничком.

50 So David1732 prevailed2388 over4480 the Philistine6430 with a sling7050 and with a stone,68 and smote5221 853 the Philistine,6430 and slew4191 him; but there was no369 sword2719 in the hand3027 of David.1732

50 Так Давид одолел филистимлянина пращой и камнем, сразил его и убил, и не было в руках у Давида меча.

51 Therefore David1732 ran,7323 and stood5975 upon413 the Philistine,6430 and took3947 853 his sword,2719 and drew8025 it out of the sheath4480 8593 thereof, and slew4191 him, and cut off3772 853 his head7218 therewith. And when the Philistines6430 saw7200 their champion1368 was dead,4191 they fled.5127

51 Давид подбежал к филистимлянину, наступил на него и, вытащив из ножен его собственный меч, добил его — отсек ему голову. Филистимляне, увидев, что их могучий воин пал, обратились в бегство.

52 And the men376 of Israel3478 and of Judah3063 arose,6965 and shouted,7321 and pursued7291 853 the Philistines,6430 until5704 thou come935 to the valley,1516 and to5704 the gates8179 of Ekron.6138 And the wounded2491 of the Philistines6430 fell down5307 by the way1870 to Shaaraim,8189 even unto5704 Gath,1661 and unto5704 Ekron.6138

52 Воины израильские и иудейские бросились с боевым кличем преследовать филистимлян и гнались за ними до входа в Гат и до ворот Экрона. И тела сраженных филистимлян усеяли шараимскую дорогу до самого Гата и Экрона.

53 And the children1121 of Israel3478 returned7725 from chasing4480 1814 after310 the Philistines,6430 and they spoiled8155 853 their tents.4264

53 Возвратившись из погони, израильтяне разграбили филистимский стан.

54 And David1732 took3947 853 the head7218 of the Philistine,6430 and brought935 it to Jerusalem;3389 but he put7760 his armor3627 in his tent.168

54 А Давид взял голову филистимлянина Голиафа и принес ее в Иерусалим, оставив его оружие у себя в шатре.

55 And when Saul7586 saw7200 853 David1732 go forth3318 against7125 the Philistine,6430 he said559 unto413 Abner,74 the captain8269 of the host,6635 Abner,74 whose4310 son1121 is this2088 youth?5288 And Abner74 said,559 As thy soul5315 liveth,2416 O king,4428 I cannot518 tell.3045

56 Тогда царь велел ему разузнать, чей сын этот юноша.

57 And as David1732 returned7725 from the slaughter4480 5221 of853 the Philistine,6430 Abner74 took3947 him, and brought935 him before6440 Saul7586 with the head7218 of the Philistine6430 in his hand.3027

57 И когда Давид, сразив филистимлянина, возвращался назад, Авнер взял его и подвел к Саулу. Предстал пред ним Давид с головой филистимлянина в руке.

58 And Saul7586 said559 to413 him, Whose4310 son1121 art thou,859 thou young man?5288 And David1732 answered,559 I am the son1121 of thy servant5650 Jesse3448 the Bethlehemite.1022

58 Саул спросил его: «Чей ты сын, юноша?» И Давид ответил: «Сын слуги твоего Иессея из Вифлеема».
